Heating Feedback Control System

I cannot express how grateful I feel about EasyIOT! Apart from the technical competency and professionalism, I’d like to emphasise again the fact that EasyIOT did whatever it took to fulfil its promise. What an incredible company!
Challenge
Central heating systems are the backbone of urban heating in many countries, supplying warmth to radiators in apartment buildings, schools, and hospitals through a vast network of pipes. However, heating companies face a persistent challenge: monitoring and controlling the indoor temperature at the user’s end due to heat loss during transmission. This often results in inconsistent heating quality and unnecessary fuel consumption.
HKai, a leading heating company, sought a solution to fine-control indoor temperatures in serviced areas to improve service quality and operational efficiency. Their initial attempt to develop a system failed, putting their $1M project and customer commitments at risk just three months before the launch deadline.
Solution
HKai turned to EasyIOT for help. EasyIOT’s team quickly identified the root cause of the project’s failure: poor system engineering at the earliest stages of development. Recognizing the need for a complete redevelopment, EasyIOT committed to delivering a fully functional IoT suite in under three months.
The solution included:
- Node Device: A power point upgrade equipped with a temperature sensor to sample indoor temperatures.
- Gateway: Facilitates data transfer between the node devices and the cloud backend.
- Repeater: Extends communication range for nodes far from the gateway.
- Dashboard: A web-based interface allowing heating companies to monitor temperature data in real-time and integrate it into their feedback control systems for automated heat adjustments.
The system’s architecture ensures seamless data upload from node devices to the cloud via gateways and repeaters. Heating companies can access comprehensive temperature insights on the dashboard, enabling precise adjustments to heat transmission based on real-time data.
Execution
EasyIOT rapidly assembled a cross-disciplinary team to tackle the challenge. Despite the high stakes and tight timeline, the team:
- Redesigned the hardware products from the ground up.
- Ensured seamless integration with HKai’s existing cloud infrastructure.
- Conducted rigorous testing to validate system performance and reliability.
By leveraging their expertise in system engineering and IoT development, EasyIOT delivered a fully functional solution in just two and a half months.
Results
The collaboration between HKai and EasyIOT resulted in a groundbreaking IoT suite that:
- Enabled fine control over indoor heating, improving customer satisfaction with consistent quality of service (QoS).
- Reduced fuel consumption by optimizing heat distribution based on real-time temperature data.
- Secured HKai’s ability to meet their project deadline and achieve multimillion-dollar financial success.
HKai’s experience highlights the importance of robust system engineering in hardware product development and the transformative potential of IoT technology in traditional industries. EasyIOT’s commitment to delivering innovative, market-ready solutions ensured the project’s success, setting a new standard for efficiency in central heating systems.
